Throwback Thursday

When my husband and I were first married, we moved to California, where we lived for a year.  It was quite the experience.  We didn’t move to LA where we could potentially hobnob with the stars.  Oh, no, we moved to a small city in San Bernardino County called Twentynine Palms.

Although Twentynine Palms is considered a city, coming from NYC, it seemed a bit small.  One might argue that it’s the complete opposite if New York.  Not bad, just different.  At the time, Twentynine Palms was known as the City of Mural.  It is  located in the Mojave Desert, has a large Marine Corps base in it, and sits on the boarder of Joshua Tree National Park.

If you’re ever in Southern California, do yourself a favor and make time to visit Joshua Tree.  It’s worth it.   Joshua Tree is where the Mojave and the Colorado meet.

Before Joshua Tree, I thought a desert was full of sand with a few cacti.  Joshua Tree immediately dispelled that notion.  The park contains a variety of plants and animals that inspired my husband and me to take regular trips out to the park (I do not camp, but if I did, this would be a place I’d happily set up camp).

Love those photos! I’ve never been to Joshua Tree. I’ve never been that far south in CA. My husband is taking an eight week vacation this sumner, so maybe it’s time we visit. 🙂
